On April 22, members of the Durability Collective led a packed room of nonprofit leaders and funders in exploring how to know if ‘the change lasts’ for a program’s participants.
We were honored to be oversubscribed for this Marmalade Festival event– over 450 people registered for 90 spaces! The workshop provided an overview of Durability fundamentals followed by breakout interactive activity and discussion on topics raised by workshop participants. It included practical guidance, real-life examples, and lessons about what works (and what doesn’t) in the journey towards achieving durable social outcomes such as employment, increased income, and improved well-being. Based on an end-of-session survey, 98% of participants found the event valuable.
The facilitation team included Generation’s Global CEO Mona Mourshed, GitLab Foundation’s President & CEO Ellie Bertani, Livelihood Impact Fund’s Associate Director of Impact and Learning Rachel Proefke, and Generation’s Impact Evaluation & Data Advocacy Lead Priyanka Yalamanchili.
The Marmalade Festival was an inspiring context for this conversation. This annual event focuses on systems change through the lens of people, power, and place. It is produced in partnership with the Skoll World Forum. The 2026 edition brought together nearly 4,500 people for 66 events across 7 Oxford venues. Shifting the needle from 12-month metrics to lifetime trajectories requires a community, and we are proud to be part of this one.
